There are strong chances that this phone will win the best mid-range phone this year. If you want a phone around Rs 30K or a smartphone under 30000, this is the only phone close to it. A flagship killer! Even though it's a mid-range, because of its performance display & everything else.
Design
It's a Snow Storm White design with flakes of snow. It's greenish at the bottom & white at the top. It's a very different design! POCO F1 had a Kevlar design & POCO F5 had a Kevlar design with a glossy finish. The design & the back is plastic.
Ports & Buttons
On the bottom, with a speaker grill, a USB Type C port, a microphone, and a sim card tray & nothing is on the left. There's a 3.5mm jack on the top & a speaker grill. There's an IR blaster & a noise-cancelling microphone on the right.
On the top, there's a volume rocker & an on-off power button. The weight of the phone is relatively light. It has a 5000mAh battery & it should weigh around 180g. It's light, even though it has a 5000mAh battery. There's Gorilla Glass 5 protection on the front.
The sim card tray has a dual nano sim card slot. But it's a 256GB base variant. It's essential when it's 64GB or 128 GB.
Display
Talk about the display. It's a 6.67'' AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It has a 12-bit display & Dolby Vision support. You might not get Dolby Vision in phones that cost Rs 50-60K. But you get Dolby Vision on this phone. The bezels & chin it's non-existent. It's a complete display with thin bezels. It has a 93% screen-to-body ratio.
Performance
Regarding performance, It's the 1st phone in India with a 7th Gen processor. And it's the same architecture as the 8th Gen. It's precisely the same. It's lower-clocked. And that's why it scores around 9.5L.
The Redmi Note 12 Turbo, launched in China, scored 9.6-9.7L. This is around 9.3L. But generally, if you take the higher variant, it'll quickly achieve 9.5L. If you have a score of approximately a million, it'll go into the flagship territory. And I'd like to talk about the performance.
It has LPDDR5 RAM & UFS 3.1 storage. It has a virtual RAM of 12GB, so you get 7GB of RAM. So overall, it's 19GB RAM. The OS is MIUI 14 out of the box, based on Android 13. You'll get two years of major updates, i.e., 14 & 15. And three years of security updates. The OS has an MIUI dialer, not the forced Google dialer. So that's good.
Battery
It's a power-efficient 4nm processor with a 5000mAh battery with 67W charging & 4nm processor. It's a recipe that you can use the battery for 1-2 days & even if it's 67W, it'll charge in 1-1.25 hours. It has an adaptive refresh rate, reducing the refresh rate according to your usage. So the battery is conserved there too.
Gaming Performance
We played COD on High Max and PUBG New State on 90FPS. You should not have any problems with gaming. And tell you what, even if it's a 3.5mm jack, you can play on speakers too. It's a great sound & Dolby Atmos support. So for multimedia, with that display, it's top-notch! It's in the range of Rs 30K.
It's the best multimedia smartphone out there. In literally every department, this phone has exceeded my expectations. If I talk about gaming, it has a gaming mode & it has 14 layers of graphite. So even in long sessions, it won't be too hot.
OS
We got the OS when we were setting up the phone. Do you want recommendations on the lock screen? If you close it, then no offers. There are some 3rd party apps. Despite the excellent performance, there are games like Snake & Bubble Shooter. Even if you play good big games, everything is fine.
Sensors
Sensors are side-mounted fingerprint sensors & face unlock. They work exceptionally well. The connectivity is good. You get 12 5G bands, which are available in India. It has the latest WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, NFC, dual 4G VoLTE, and WiFi calling support.
It has IP53 certification. It has Widevine L1 support. You won't have any complaints when you watch Netflix on Dolby Vision.
Camera Setup
It's a Poco F5. There's a triple-camera setup on the back. It's a 64MP OIS & it's miles ahead of the Poco F1. Other mid-range phones are not getting an ultrawide camera. But you get an 8MP ultrawide camera & a 2MP macro camera. Selfie is 16MP. The camera is good in normal conditions.
Sometimes it looks soft with the ultrawide camera & there's a slight colour shift. Interestingly, it has film camera modes. So you can give a vintage look to your photos. It's an average camera.
Features: It has 4K at 30FPS & 1080p at 60FPS. It has a 240FPS video mode, slow motion, portrait, etc.
